Individual Chess Tutoring

Virtual or In-Person Lessons

I meet students where they are in their chess education, whether they’ve never played before and want to learn from scratch or they want to improve their existing game. I offer 30, 45, or 60 minute sessions that cover key chess concepts including openings, middlegames, endgames, general strategy, and tactics. The best way to learn is through playing, so we will have lots of time to have fun playing games together!

I welcome anyone ages 5 through 15, ranging from those totally new to the game through intermediate level players.

I can meet virtually online or in person outdoors, at a public library, or at another convenient location. I am COVID conscious and will wear a mask if indoors, following the latest guidelines from the Washtenaw County Health Department.

Tournament Guidance

Tournament Coaching

I can join the chess player at tournaments to provide warm-ups prior to matches, analyses of games, and strategy for each match. Tournament coaching can provide important support for players new to the experience.
